Ability to use check block warnings as part of a plan policy

We have used the check block resource in several of our terraform projects and it would be great if we could use these same warning blocks in our plan policies to control automatic approval.

Thanks for submitting this feature request. I can see how using check block warnings as part of plan policies would be valuable for your use case - particularly when you have autodeploy enabled and want to ensure users see important warnings before changes are automatically applied.

Currently, check block outputs aren't exposed in the plan policy input data, so you can't directly reference these warnings in your policies. However, I understand the gap you're describing: plan policies can't catch every edge case, and check blocks provide a nice way to surface contextual warnings that should pause automation. This would be a natural extension of our policy framework - exposing check block data.

I will check with the team on the effort size, and in the mean time would you be able to share a specific example of the types of warnings you're trying to surface through check blocks? This would help us better understand the patterns you're working with.
