Add orchestration?

It would be nice if Spacelift was able to incorporate general purpose orchestration capabilities similar to Kestra.

TLDR: Almost every system can be configured and managed as one or more Terraform stacks in Spacelift but what we lack is robust general purpose orchestration capabilities to bridge the gaps between the stack boundaries.

Today Spacelift makes it easy for us to manage many different facets of our infrastructure, but sometimes we need the ability to inject some orchestration into the mix. Today my team handles that externally to Spacelift, but ultimately the bulk of the orchestrations responsibility is receiving webhook events from external systems and triggering Spacelift stack jobs, or receiving webhook events from Spacelift and updating things like Github PR comments.

    This is now in early access as a new product called “Flows” and it will become part of the Spacelift product offering by early 2027. Reach out directly if you want to use this today, it’s ready for production now.

    I have a similar issue, we currently use an external CI/CD tool to orchestrate the rollouts where multiple stacks need to be deployed to different environments on a specific order and we need to wait for tests (canary) and quality gates to execute and in some cases we need a user approval step (before a specific stack can be deployed).

    In the past tools like Azure DevOps allowed me to control this release flows with the ability to add pre/post gates where, for instance, a specific user role was needed to approve a release to a specific environment (this was great for compliance/audit, since we needed at least 2 approvals, one from a specific team).

    If a solution is implemented on Spacelift for this, it would be great for me!
