Thanks for raising this! The preparing stage is somewhat special in that it involves a handover between the control plane and the compute plane (worker). It’s highly stateful and in some scenarios stopping it would be rather brittle.
What we could do is provide a stop button nevertheless that would register your desire to terminate the run after completing this stage. Would this satisfy your use case?
