Add team attribute to commit author in notification policy

Currently, in the notification policy, we see information about the commit, including the author. it would be great if we could also pull in more information about the author specifically the team that person belongs to.

    Thanks for the suggestion! We’re going to pass on this feature for now.

    We understand the desire to enrich notifications with team-level metadata from commit authors. However, Spacelift does not have native insight into VCS teams or a reliable way to map commit authors to Spacelift users. Rather than introduce implicit assumptions or partial mappings, we recommend explicitly defining any author-to-team relationships directly in your notification policy logic.

    Because the mapping is use-case specific and easily expressed in Rego (e.g., author_to_team["alice@example.com"] = "team-a"), we believe this is best handled at the policy level. This keeps things simple, transparent, and fully in your control.

    If your use case evolves or exposes deeper needs (e.g., centralized identity mapping across Spacelift), we’re happy to revisit. Thanks again for helping us keep Spacelift focused and composable.
