CI/CD Workflows in Spacelift

I would like Spacelift to support simple CI/CD workflows natively. Our team builds and deploys container images for EKS and ECS, and today we rely on external tools like CodeBuild and CodePipeline to handle this. It would help us a lot if Spacelift could run a pipeline that builds a Docker image, pushes it to a registry, and then triggers the deployment. We know we can force this with Terraform modules on private workers, but it’s a fragile workaround. Having a straightforward way to run these steps directly in Spacelift would let us keep the whole workflow in one place and make our delivery process much easier to manage.

    Thanks for the detailed feedback about your container deployment workflow. I understand the appeal of consolidating everything in one place, but this request touches on some fundamental product decisions we've made at Spacelift.

    Spacelift is intentionally not a general-purpose CI/CD system. We focus on being world-class at infrastructure orchestration rather than trying to (poorly) replicate what tools like CodeBuild and GitHub Actions already do well. This isn't necessarily a limitation but a strategic choice that lets us laser-focus on delivering superior infrastructure management capabilities.
