Spacelift Prometheus Exporter Being Actively Developed?

Are there any plans to add metrics / pivots around spaces and individual stacks?

I’ve added a PR with some of these changes. See

    Hi Natalia!

This metrics will help us to know the status of all our stacks from one source of truth, without the need of accessing Spacelift dashboard.

Also, we can set up alerts if we have many stacks waiting for approvals or failing. It could mean that we’ve introduced a change with a bigger blast radius than expected (as an example).

Also, as we’re new to Spacelift, having the metrics will help us to show the benefits of using the tool, as it’d give us insights of how we’re reducing drift, removing errors, etc.

The platform team is the user of the current metrics, but they give us information only regarding the workers. Having metrics also regarding stacks will improve drastically the observability surrounding our infrastructure.

    Thanks!

Hey @Julio Chana, thanks for the requests! I’m currently looking at the observability topic and would love to understand your use cases a bit more.

    • What decisions or alerts are you trying to drive with these metrics?

    • Who uses the metrics now, and who would use the new ones?

    • If you had these metrics, what would become easier or faster?

Hi Trevor! Great timing on this question. We're indeed looking at significantly improving our Prometheus exporter, and I'd love to get your input to make sure we build the right thing. Currently, our exporter uses our GraphQL API, which limits both what metrics we can expose and makes it expensive for our backend to serve. We're planning to denormalize some of our data specifically for metrics consumption, which would make the exporter both more powerful and more efficient. Since you mentioned spaces and individual stacks specifically - could you share what metrics around those would be most valuable to you? For example: - Stack health/status over time? - Run frequency/success rates per space? - Resource counts or drift detection status? - Something else entirely? Understanding your specific monitoring needs would help us prioritize which metrics to focus on first. What problems are you trying to solve with Spacelift metrics in your monitoring setup?
